Apartment Living

Gersh Experience students experience apartment living, either on one of our campuses or in a real residential community. Our central locations provide convenient access to major transportation, educational options, healthcare providers, social and entertainment options and, most importantly, job opportunities for our program graduates. The facilities provide 24-hour security service along with recreational and social gathering areas that offer many opportunities for group activities. A Resident Assistant (RA) resides on-site to provide supervision and additional support, as well as to help coordinate social activities.

The Residential Aspect Involves Training In:

  • Household Management
  • Social Skills and Group Interaction
  • Cleaning and Laundry
  • Shopping and Paying Bills

Peer Living

Newer students in the program are typically paired up with more senior students to share apartments together. This social interaction between senior and new student creates a special mentorship bond that helps both peers feel welcome and develop their skills together.

“He is learning socialization and self-help skills, time and money management, personal and home care, and so much more! He is being allowed to grow, with expert guidance toward independence, in a way that makes sense to him.”

-Gersh Experience Parent

Student apartments are conveniently located near public transportation—ensuring students learn to navigate the public transportation system safely and with ease.

Important life skills, such as managing money and paying bills, grocery shopping, meal preparation, laundry and cleaning, are part of every plan.

Students in the program are encouraged to socialize with other students as well as with peers in the greater community. As a part of the program, students take turns each week hosting dinner parties and other social events. This is not only a fun way to spend an evening, it helps students get accustomed to the intricacies of adult social interaction and relationship building.
